Presenting the Game Symphony Workshop

I’m thrilled to announce the launch of the Game Symphony Workshop. This creative music experience helps formally trained musicians get off the page through Soundpainting, musical adaptations of theater games, and creative chamber music.
Steve and Kaley 2

I’m leading an adult workshop at Seattle Pacific University on July 2nd and 3rd with my friend and colleague Kaley Lane Eaton. Kaley is an award-winning composer, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and arts education activist. Our diverse backgrounds and shared vision are a great match, and we can’t wait to facilitate this new program.

The Program

  • Soundpainting: a sign language for live composition
  • Play musical adaptations of theater games
  • Collaboratively improvise and compose chamber music
  • Experience a rhythm-first approach to jazz
  • Compose graphic scores
  • Play game pieces
  • Improvise a soundtrack to a silent film
  • Play modal improvisations over a drone
  • Learn effective strategies for managing fear
  • Gain insight into practicing creativity
  • Perform original music

We will be facilitating more student and adult workshops in the future. Check out the new website for more info.
